What kinds of firms typically engage permataisa?
Most of our clients are manufacturing or industrial firms in Perak — particularly in the Kinta Valley — employing between 40 and 400 staff. They are typically profitable, have been operating for a number of years, and have reached a point where they want a structured outside view on a specific operational or financial question.
How does a first conversation work?
We begin with a conversation at your premises or by phone — typically 30 to 45 minutes — to understand what you are dealing with. We then follow up in writing within a few days with a short note explaining which of our engagement types, if any, seems relevant, and on what terms we would be prepared to proceed.
Do you work with firms outside Perak?
Our primary focus is manufacturers and industrial groups in central Malaysia — Perak, Selangor, and Pahang. For engagements requiring substantial site presence, proximity matters. For the Cost-to-Serve Review or Restructuring Advisory, we have worked with firms further afield where the leadership team is accessible and willing to commit the necessary time.
What does "decisions remain with the firm" mean in practice?
We present what we find and discuss the options your leadership team faces. We do not have a preferred outcome beyond an accurate and useful piece of work. We will say if we think a particular course of action seems sensible, but we will not advocate for change that serves our interests or that might not suit your particular situation.
How are engagements priced and invoiced?
Each engagement has a fixed fee agreed before we begin. For the Manufacturing Floor Diagnostic the fee is RM 590, for the Cost-to-Serve Review RM 1,800, and for the Group Restructuring Advisory RM 3,300. Payment terms are discussed at the proposal stage and typically involve a portion upfront and the remainder on delivery of the written work.
How is confidential information handled?
We sign a mutual non-disclosure agreement before any substantive discussion begins. Information you share — operational data, financial figures, personnel matters — is used only for the purposes of the engagement and is not shared with any third party. We are small enough that you will know exactly who has seen your material.
